Spotlighting our Ambassadors! Welcome to Joe Farrar

We’re introducing another one of our new Ambassadors this week, to help you get to learn a little more about the people that make up the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity family and their work with us.

Next up, we’re talking to Joe Farrar, Director of Land & Partnerships at local firm, Seddon. Seddon provide end to end construction and development services across the North West and Midlands regions. They’ve joined some of our policy roundtables previously, and the 2025 gala dinner. We’re looking forward to working more with them and Joe in the coming months.

What inspired you to become an Ambassador for the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity?

I was born in Manchester and it’s my home city, so it’s a place close to my heart and you want to contribute to make it a better place and make a difference to people who live in the city.  When I’ve been walking through the city centre with my family it’s noticeable that homelessness has risen over the years and that’s not right. The charity is doing great work and making a big impact, it would be great to be part of it.

What impact do you hope to make in your role as Ambassador?

The ultimate aim is to eradicate homelessness in Greater Manchester, I will be doing everything I can to try and achieve this through raising funds and through my network I will raise awareness of the great work the charity does.

How does this role connect to your day-to-day work?

As a 127-year-old business, Seddon has been delivering much needed affordable homes throughout its existence. Our mission is to create better homes as a platform for people to create better lives - the work the charity is doing aligns perfectly with this and so is something we as a business are keen and proud to support.

How would you encourage others to get involved?

I will drive the profile of the work done by the charity in everything I do. This profile raising in our network will increase involvement.

I will bring colleagues and partners into all activities to increase awareness of the great initiatives being run.

What does this opportunity mean to you?

It will make me proud to be giving back to this great region that has given so much to me.

Thank you Joe! If Joe’s reflections inspired you to help, reach out today to learn more about our work and how you can be part of our mission.

Together, let’s end homelessness.
